The color of Corten steel is orange-brown and is formed by a natural layer of rust. Another name for Corten steel is weathering steel: weather conditions have a positive influence on the material.
Corten steel is a metal alloy consisting of iron, to which copper, phosphorus, silicon, nickel, and chromium have been added. When exposed to the outdoors, the material becomes covered with a protective layer of rust. This natural rust layer provides protection against further corrosion. As a result, the pedestals have a long lifespan.

Products are delivered unrusted. The rusting process of Corten steel takes approximately 4-5 months, depending on weather conditions.
Rust can be fixed by applying Owatrol. This is an impregnating anti-rust agent that forms a protective layer against rust. Owatrol protects the base and ensures that the Corten steel no longer stains.
Points to note
- Products must be unpacked immediately upon receipt so that any moisture is not trapped between the packaging and the product. This can cause irregular rust stains.
- We advise against using Corten steel within a radius of 2 km of a coastline.
- During the rusting process, rust water may come off the product.
- The warranty is void if you drill or grind in a manner that is not prescribed.
- Clean annually by spraying off coarse dirt on the panel with tap water.
