Description
Features
The round Corten steel planter gives gardens a powerful, stylish, and warm appearance. This is due to the orange-brown color of the material, which is formed by a natural layer of rust. Another name for Corten steel is weathering steel: weather conditions have a positive influence on this planter.
Corten steel is a metal alloy consisting of iron, to which copper, phosphorus, silicon, nickel, and chromium have been added. When exposed to the outdoors, the material becomes covered with a protective layer of rust. This natural rust layer provides protection against further corrosion. This gives the planter a long lifespan.
Specifications:
- 5-year warranty.
- Corten steel planters are very strong, wear-resistant, weather-resistant, low-maintenance, and durable.
- Includes feet and drainage holes. This ensures that the planter floats slightly above the ground (15 mm) and has optimal drainage.
- Standard material thickness of the Corten steel is 2 mm. Other material thicknesses are also possible.
- Customization is possible.
- Products are delivered unrusted. The rusting process of Corten steel takes approximately 4-5 months, depending on weather conditions.
- Rust can be fixed by applying Owatrol. This is a penetrating anti-rust agent that forms a protective layer against rust. Owatrol protects the planter and ensures that the Corten steel no longer stains.
Important points to note:
Products must be unpacked immediately upon receipt so that any moisture between the packaging and the product is not trapped. This can cause irregular rust stains.
Ensure proper drainage.
Do not use an overflow pipe; no excess water should remain standing in the Corten steel planter. The material can then rust through due to a combination of oxygen and soil.
Do not use hydro granules: these retain moisture.
We advise against using Corten steel within a radius of 2 km from a coastline.
The warranty is void if you drill or grind in a manner that is not prescribed.
During the rusting process, rust water may run off the product.
Planting advice:
- Provide the soil with a layer of Ø35 mm sorting pebbles (approx. 10 cm).
- Lay a water-permeable weed control fabric over the pebbles.
- Cover the weed control fabric with soil suitable for your type of planting.
- Use no overflow pipe; no water must remain standing in the Corten steel planter.
