Corten steel is a metal alloy consisting of iron, to which copper, phosphorus, silicon, nickel, and chromium have been added. When exposed to the outdoors, the material becomes covered with a protective layer of rust. This natural rust layer provides protection against further corrosion. This gives the planter a long lifespan.

  • Corten steel planters are very strong, wear-resistant, weather-resistant, low-maintenance, and durable.
  • Includes feet and drainage holes. This ensures that the planter floats slightly above the ground (15 mm) and has optimal drainage.
  • Standard material thickness of the Corten steel is 2 mm. Other material thicknesses are also possible.
  • Customization is possible.
  • Products are delivered unrusted. The rusting process of Corten steel takes approximately 4-5 months, depending on weather conditions.
  • Rust can be fixed by applying Owatrol. This is a penetrating anti-rust agent that forms a protective layer against rust. Owatrol protects the planter and ensures that the Corten steel no longer stains.

Important points to note:

  • Products must be unpacked immediately upon receipt so that any moisture between the packaging and the product is not trapped. This can cause irregular rust stains.
  • Ensure proper drainage.
  • Do not use an overflow pipe; no excess water should remain standing in the Corten steel planter. The material can then rust through due to a combination of oxygen and soil.
  • Do not use hydro granules: these retain moisture.
  • We advise against using Corten steel within a radius of 2 km from a coastline.
    The warranty is void if you drill or grind in a manner that is not prescribed.
  • During the rusting process, rust water may run off the product.

    • Planting advice:

    • Provide the soil with a layer of Ø35 mm sorting pebbles (approx. 10 cm).
    • Lay a water-permeable weed control fabric over the pebbles.
    • Cover the weed control fabric with soil suitable for your type of planting.
    • Use no overflow pipe; no water must remain standing in the Corten steel planter.
