This Corten steel planter gives gardens a powerful and warm appearance. This is due to the orange-brown color of the material, which is formed by a natural layer of rust. Another name for Corten steel is weathering steel: weather conditions have a positive influence on this planter.
Corten steel is a metal alloy consisting of iron, to which copper, phosphorus, silicon, nickel, and chromium have been added. When exposed to the outdoors, the material becomes covered with a protective layer of rust. This natural rust layer provides protection against further corrosion. As a result, the planter has a long lifespan.
SPECIFICATIONS:
- 5-year warranty.
- Corten steel planters are very strong, wear-resistant, weather-resistant, low-maintenance, and durable.
- Includes legs and drainage holes. This ensures that the planter floats slightly above the ground (90 mm) and has optimal drainage.
- Because the planter stands on legs, it is easy to move using, for example, a hand truck.
- Standard material thickness of the Corten steel is 2 mm. Other material thicknesses are also possible.
- Customization is possible.
- Products are delivered unrusted. The rusting process of Corten steel takes approximately 4-5 months, depending on weather conditions.
- Rust can be fixed by applying Owatrol. This is a penetrating anti-rust agent that forms a protective layer against rust. Owatrol protects the planter and ensures that the Corten steel no longer stains.
Important points to note:
- Products must be unpacked immediately upon receipt so that any moisture between the packaging and the product is not trapped. This can cause irregular rust stains.
- Ensure proper drainage.
- Do not use an overflow pipe; no excess water should remain in the Corten steel planter. The material can then rust through due to a combination of oxygen and soil.
- Do not use hydro granules: these retain moisture.
- We advise against using Corten steel within a radius of 2 km from a coastline.
- During the rusting process, rust water may run off the product.
- The warranty is void if you drill or grind in a manner that is not prescribed.
PLANTING ADVICE:
- Provide the soil with a layer of Ø35 mm sorting pebbles (approx. 10 cm).
- Lay a water-permeable root barrier fabric over the pebbles.
- Cover the root barrier fabric with soil suitable for your type of planting.
- Do not use an overflow pipe; No water must remain standing in the Corten steel planter.
