Helleborus orientalis, ook wel Lentenroos genoemd, is een wintergroene vaste plant met glanzend donkergroen blad en grote, vaak opvallend gekleurde bloemen in tinten van wit, roze, paars en rood. Deze charmante plant is ideaal voor schaduwrijke borders, onder struiken of in winter- en vroege voorjaarsborders, waar hij structuur en vroegse bloei biedt. Helleborus orientalis houdt van een humusrijke, goed doorlatende grond en een standplaats in halfschaduw tot schaduw. De plant is onderhoudsarm, winterhard en brengt elegantie in de tuin van de late winter tot het vroege voorjaar.
